Styles of Dance 


Freestyle Disco 

Disco is one of most popular forms of dance. It involves a wide assortment of steps and arm/hand actions. Using music that can be fast or slow, old or new which allows dancers of all ages to use freedom of expression to enhance their own style incorporating Street Dance &      Rock 'n' Roll 


Adult Classes

If you are new to dance or have a yearning to get back to it after a break of however many years(!), we have a class for you in Adult Ballet, Freestyle Disco & Tap. These classes are suitable for complete beginners, to those with a little or a lot of experience as routines, exercises and dances can be amended to suit, and our attendees range from 18- 70+ years. 


Performance Class

And if you are looking for more than the weekly exam classes then we offer these classes for those pupils dedicated to additional classes in the week where routines are choreographed for Competitions, Displays, Carnivals etc and our Bi- Annual show. Our pupils get to enjoy a wide range of events and experiences, learning new skills and having a lot of fun along the way. 

Ballet 

The foundation for dance, concentrating on discipline, good posture, grace, style and technique. The early years concentrate on musicality and expression through mime and movement developing on to technical training forming the basis for all styles of dance. 


Tap 

Tap is a chance for students to learn rhythm and co-ordination through a wide selection of music with different styles and tempo. Through the use of timings, counts and different styles of music. students can learn the different steps tap can offer.


Modern Jazz 

Modern Jazz is a fun way to learn different styles through music and rhythm. Classes are structured to teach the pupils the techniques to prepare the body for the strength and flexibility needed along with mime in the early grades to encourage students to use emotions in dance. 


IDTA Safeguarding Statement

At the IDTA we are committed to the highest standard of safeguarding practice and recognise the welfare of children who come into contact with our association as our highest priority. We respond to all safeguarding concerns in a timely manner and work with external specialists to ensure all concerns are addressed effectively. We are keen to create a learning culture around safeguarding and strive to provide our members with resources to keep them up to date on good practice.
