So much more than just a class !
Our story starts well over 60 years ago when Alex & Doris Johnstone started up classes in the local area known as
'Johnstone School of Dance'
The current principals who have been part of the story and family for over 40 years continue to practice Doris' philosophy, that dancing is to be enjoyed by all, regardless of background or ability, every child will be encouraged to reach their full potential participating in various events such as shows, carnivals, festivals, fetes and local pantomimes.
We work towards IDTA exams that can lead on to further education and a future career in the performing arts.
Many of our pupils carry on with us in to adult classes or bring the next generation of pupils to continue their story with us.

As part of the International Dance Teachers Association we work towards exams in all disciplines taught. Being part of the above association also guarantees we have a full support network, ensuring we are up to date with current regulations, and have in place recommended policies to make a happy, safe and fulfilling environment within the school.

Donna, granddaughter to Alex & Doris and Sam a former pupil from a very young age welcomed Sophie into their dancing family nearly 30 years ago.
Together they now run ‘Aspects of Dance Academy’ as a joint venture adding new classes specific for dance festivals and other events. They are supported with the teaching by Louise another former pupil who takes our adult tap & freestyle disco classes.
